Lawyers

1. I have divided the involvement of lawyers into three categories:
(i). The process in the Crown Court, which produced the section Order under which I am detained.
(a). I was reduced to a bystander and railroaded into a mental hospital. The system should have returned the correct result: it had to be manipulated awkwardly to produce that result.
(ii). Between 2016 and 2022, I insisted on representing myself at Mental Health Review Tribunals. Recurrent attempts were made to foist solicitors on me through groundless assertions that I lacked the mental capacity to represent myself or to select a legal representative. These lawyers form the second group.
(a). This was a resolute and sustained effort to continue my detention by the same unscrupulous methods which secured it in the first place: effectively to exclude me from the process and thereby to reduce the matter to an orderly formality.
(iii). In 2022, I approached solicitors to represent me at tribunals. I insisted on making audio recordings of consultations and securing an independent opinion: solicitors would either be incriminated or forced to make statements and act in ways that would show I am not mentally disordered or dangerous.
(a). Solicitors now unreasonably refused to represent me: they made implausible excuses and availed themselves of flimsy pretexts to sever association.
(iv). I approached more than a dozen solicitors, in that period. None would represent me.
(v). The implications are troubling: In the United Kingdom, today, a situation may be contrived where a person requiring representation before the courts is unable to secure it.
